Welcome to Asylum Team Building!
Once upon a time (in 1998, to be exact), a group of funny, slightly unhinged geniuses opened Improv Asylum—a comedy theater in Boston’s North End where quick wit, sharp thinking, and teamwork reigned supreme.
Building on this foundation, we recognized the profound impact that improvisational techniques could have beyond the stage.
At Asylum Team Building, we believe that the principles of improvisation—active listening, adaptability, trust, and support—are essential components of a successful team. Our programs are designed to help teams break down barriers, foster open communication, and cultivate a culture of innovation. By embracing the “Yes, and…” mindset central to improv, teams learn to build upon each other’s ideas, leading to more cohesive and dynamic collaboration.
Long story short: the same improv skills that make for world-class comedy also make for world-class teams. So, our programs build upon what we already know, fine-tuned it for a safe-for-work environment, and boom—Asylum Team Building was born. Actually, we called it IA Innovation for about a decade, but let’s leave the past in the past.
